Mobile Targeting

Mobile Targeting gives you four different survey-targeting criteria based on the distinctive characteristics of mobile devices. You’ll find them listed under “Mobile Targeting: Apps, Carrier, Operating System, and Device.”

Adding and enabling Mobile Targeting

  • Click on any “Mobile Targeting” option on the left of the survey builder.
  • Select a category from the menu (Apps, Carrier, Operating system, and/or Device).


App targeting allows you to target panelists by specific apps installed (or not installed) on their phones.

You can select as many apps as you would like from the dropdown menu on the left, labeled “Top 100 Apps.” You can search for specific apps (example: Uber or Amazon) or select apps by category. For example, select “Health and Fitness,” and a list of health and fitness apps appears. 

Press the > arrow symbol to add desired apps to the “Selections” box.

To remove a selection, click on the apps you would like to remove from the “Selections” box, and the press the < arrow.

Select one of the three targeting options:

  • Must have all: Panelists must have all of the apps you selected.
  • At least one: Panelists must have at least one of the apps you selected, but not all of them.
  • None: Panelists must not have any of the selected apps.

You can use logic branching to direct follow-up questions to specific panelists. 

Important Note: mobile app targeting is only available for Android devices. If you choose mobile app targeting in your survey, you will not be able to collect responses from panelists using an iOS device.



Carrier targeting lets you target panelists based on their mobile carrier. MFourDIY™  currently has 10 different carriers to choose from:

  • Verizon
  • AT&T
  • Sprint
  • T-Mobile
  • Metro PCS
  • Boost Mobile
  • Cricket
  • U.S. Cellular
  • Virgin Mobile
  • Vodaphone

You can add any of these carriers to your targeting criteria. Click on the > arrow button to add carriers from the list on the left side menu.

Operating System

Operating System targeting lets you target panelists according to their mobile device’s operating system. Click on Operating System and select Android or iOS. The survey will be targeted to whichever OS you picked.


Device targeting allows you to identify panelists by the make and model of their smartphones – for example, Samsung Galaxy S6, iPhone 7, etc. Select as many devices as you like from the dropdown menu, and all panelists who use one of these devices will be targeted.
